Named in Honor of Charles W Byrd


Byrd Township was one of the original townships when Brown County was formed.
Township Villiages

Neal a small villiage in the Southeastern part of the township is about three miles from Decatur

 


 

Decatur

Located in the Eastern part of the township was laid out in 1802. The villiage was first named St Clairsville in honor Of Govenor Arthur St Clair.

The name was later changed to Hard Scrabble then changed again to the current name of Decatur.

The first house in the villiage was built in 1802 by Nathaniel Beasley
